The Marble Queen Pothos is variegated to a degree that most plants aren't. Each leaf is a different ratio of creamy white to bright green — some are almost entirely white, some are marbled evenly, some lean more green. The result is a plant that looks different from every angle and feels genuinely alive in a way that uniform plants don't. It's always in the process of revealing something new.

Epipremnum aureum 'Marble Queen' trails with the same generous habit as all Pothos varieties — down from a shelf, out of a hanging planter, across a bookcase if you let it. The white-heavy leaves are light-dependent for their full effect: in bright indirect light, the variegation is at its most vivid and the contrast between white and green is striking. The care is exactly as easy as all Pothos.

This is a plant that looks like it required choices — and it didn't.

Why You'll Love It

The Marble Queen is one of the most versatile variegated plants available — the cream-and-green coloring works with warm interiors, cool interiors, minimal spaces, and maximalist ones alike. It's also one of the best Pothos varieties for people who want the trailing habit at scale: the larger-leafed varieties trail dramatically and create long, generous cascades that fill vertical space in a way smaller-leafed plants can't.

Care at a Glance

  • Light: Bright indirect light preferred. The white variegation is most vivid and extensive in good light
  • Water: Allow the top inch of soil to dry between waterings. Very forgiving
  • Humidity: Tolerates average indoor humidity. Occasional misting appreciated
  • Temperature: Prefers 60 to 85 degrees F. Keep away from cold drafts
  • Growth: Moderate. Slightly slower than all-green Pothos due to reduced chlorophyll in white areas
  • Skill level: Beginner-friendly. Same easy care as all Pothos varieties
  • Pet safety: Toxic if ingested. Keep away from pets and small children

Good to Know

The Marble Queen's highly variegated leaves contain large areas without chlorophyll, which makes it grow slightly more slowly than the Golden Pothos — this is normal and not a problem. In lower light, new leaves will emerge with more green and less white as the plant tries to maximize photosynthesis. Bright indirect light is where this variety looks its best and grows with the most energy.
